The Company
Our client is a leading commodities trading company with a diverse workforce with internal transfer opportunities in the medium term, and are looking to hire a replacement assistant compliance manager. This is a regional role governing SE Asia and may require up to 20% business travel.
Responsibilities
- Championing Anti-Bribery, Ethics & Compliance practices: You will be a regional champion for ethical conduct, evaluating risk of corruption in our business practices and advising on policies and training to mitigate those risks. You will also be responsible for investigating and resolving reported violations of company policies or the law.
- Compliance Training Leader: As the regional compliance training lead, you will develop and deliver training programs for employees and business partners on various compliance topics, fostering a culture of awareness and adherence to regulations.
- Maintaining Compliance Effectiveness: You will work diligently to maintain robust regional compliance by reviewing internal controls, policies, and procedures. You will identify and implement remedial actions to ensure continuous compliance with internal policies and all applicable laws.
- Global Collaboration: You will collaborate closely with compliance functions across different regions (APAC/US/EMEA) to ensure a consistent and effective global compliance program.
- M&A, Trade & Other Compliance Expertise: You will on occasion work on due diligence for M&A and JV projects, and associated third party management.
- Data Privacy & Governance Leadership: You will play a vital role in leading data privacy and governance initiatives specific to the Southeast Asian region.
Requirements
- Academic Qualifications: You will possess a law degree (LLB or LLM) and/or be a qualified lawyer (commonwealth bar will suffice)
- Compliance Expertise: You will have 3-5 years of relevant experience, ideally within a legal firm or the legal/compliance department of a multinational corporation.
- Communication and Language Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Fluency in English is a must, with additional knowledge of Southeast Asian languages being a strong asset.
- Travel and Flexibility: The ability to travel extensively throughout the region and internationally is required. You must also be prepared to work flexible hours due to potential time zone differences.
