The Company & Opportunity
Our client is a leading healthcare organisation that has been immensely growing in headcount over the last 6 years. They are not part of a government ministry, and have a separate board of directors (in their mid-40s) that their CEO reports into. The head of legal role is new and to consolidate, build and implement legal frameworks for the increasing volume of commercial contracts, data privacy compliance, corporate governance and board + c-level stakeholder management. Its an exciting opportunity to build a legal function with stability in play.
Responsibilities
- Legal Guidance: Provide strategic legal advice and counsel on operational matters, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations such as PDPA and the Employment Act.
- Contract Drafting Expertise: Manage the contract lifecycle, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various agreements (commercial, third party partnerships and providers) while considering litigation risks and relevant legal aspects.
- Corporate Governance Support: Review internal processes for legal adherence and assist in Board & Secretariat operations.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Build strong and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels to achieve strategic objectives.
Requirements
- Legal Expertise: Minimum 15 years of post-qualification experience in both private practice and in-house roles.
- Combined Private + Public Sector experience: Government entity/SOE experience together with private sector experience would be highly beneficial.
- Data privacy experience is a plus
- Strategic Thinking: Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and the ability to translate complex legal matters into actionable solutions.
- Stakeholder management: Ability to manage board members, scholar background C-level, and government entity stakeholder demands
- Adaptability and Team leadership: Readily embrace change, and experience in managing and cultivating a collaborative legal team
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Time Management & Prioritization: Effectively manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines consistently while managing expectations.
