The Company
The client is a leading data center provider in key hubs across China, Southeast Asia and beyond. Their state-of-the-art facilities offer large net floor area, high power capacity and efficiency, along with carrier and cloud neutrality, allowing their customers to access the latest technologies and services. They serve a diverse clientele including hyperscale cloud providers, large internet companies, financial institutions. This new position is for their international business and for the legal team serving markets outside of China.
Responsibilities
- Championing a culture of compliance: Overseeing the implementation and effectiveness of our company-wide compliance programs, including providing training, managing procedures, conducting investigations, and due diligence during business transactions.
- Expert Guidance: Providing comprehensive legal advice on critical areas like anti-bribery/corruption, export controls, sanctions, data privacy, and cybersecurity.
- Contract Craftsmanship: Drafting and reviewing a variety of commercial agreements, from NDAs to complex business transaction contracts. You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the negotiation process.
- Building Relationships: Liaising with external parties, government agencies, and regulators on compliance matters.
- Legal Partner: Coordinating with external law firms, managing court cases and arbitration processes, ensuring seamless collaboration.
Requirements
- Proven Legal Expertise: A strong academic background with an LLB degree or above from a reputable university in a common law jurisdiction.
- Local and International Acumen: Qualified to practice law in Singapore, with additional experience in other common law jurisdictions a plus.
- Industry Experience: At least 4 years of experience working in a leading international or Singaporean law firm with compliance experience (anti-fraud, anti-bribery, ethics and compliance training experience).
- Language Skills: conversational Mandarin and reading capabilities will be beneficial to the role.
