Director, Group Business Development (Global FMCG Brand)

The Company:
Our client is a leading FMCG brand with an illustrious heritage, well known for its portfolio of brands and omni-channel capabilities. In view of its recent strategic merger & acquisition (M&A) initiatives, they are seeking a high caliber Business Development Director to spearhead their strategic commercial, route to market and trade marketing activations across the Asia region.
Reporting into the Vice President, this newly created capacity will lead their acquisition of multinational FMCG brands across the Asian market and accelerating key partnerships across APAC including the likes of China, HK, Taiwan, and will have strategic oversight into all commercial initiatives with the key intention to drive strategic business development and managing a team of Business Development Leads in both SEA and North Asia markets.
Role & Responsibilities:
Financial Contributions
- Deliver annual BD financial targets including but not restrictive, NSV, Incr. Ebit & RONOC.
- Ensure that new business will be accretive to the current P&L
Operational Contributions
- Participate in building the annual BD Strategy along with the VP Business Development, peers and the market leaders.
- Lead the development and execution of the MNC BD strategy to achieve short and long-term business objectives.
- Drive the identification, evaluation and management of MNC business opportunities/leads that will contribute to short and long term financial goals.
- Lead contract negotiation activities with clients to facilitate deal closing. Advise on upselling opportunities.
- Work closely with the BD Managers in each market and market leaders to align strategies, ensuring consistency and synergy across markets
- Lead collaborative efforts across the 13 markets to optimize local operations and deliver seamless services to MNC clients.
Internal Contributions
- Oversee market research & business analyses, evaluate findings, assess the strategic viability of alternative opportunities and propose recommendations.
- Effective coordination with the Group Director, Client Growth Management to ensure a healthy productive client business relationship.
Performance & Reporting
- Set and monitor KPIs for business development efforts across markets, driving accountability and performance.
- Report regularly to senior management, providing insights on market trends, progress, challenges, and opportunities.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration
- At least 12-15 years of business development / sales experience with global FMCG brands with proven track record in driving new businesses and expansions of markets/channels
- Demonstrated application of strategic thinking, business acumen in thought processes and decision-making
- Proven client and customer account management skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage regional assignments and projects and appreciation for cultural sensitivities especially in cross-country/culture interactions
- Demonstrated fluency in English (both written and spoken)
